Discolouration
Overuse of Softener can cause a yellowish or sometimes grey discolouration, particularly on white towels. This can be removed by washing discoloured items in a hot wash using an anionic laundry detergent.
Ensure that product use rates are reduced to normal recommended levels.
Iron contamination in the water supply (greater than 0.15ppm concentration) can form pale yellow patches or overall pale yellow discolouration, particularly on white towels.
The discolouration can be removed as above by use of an anionic detergent.
It is recommended that the source of the contamination is traced and eliminated if possible.
Waterproofing
The use of excessive levels of softener can reduce water absorbency, particular of towels. The build-up can be removed by using an anionic detergent in a hot wash.
